Waltham Forest Council is consulting on proposed changes to its Local List of heritage buildings. Leyton & Wanstead Conservatives give their views and encourage residents to join the consultation.
Happy new year to all our members and supporters in Leyton & Wanstead.
Leyton & Wanstead Conservatives welcome the Government's new report on housing strategy for England: http://www.communities.gov.uk/documents/housing/pdf/2033676.pdf
With local press reports suggesting that Redbridge and parts of Waltham Forest are becoming unaffordable and with national house building levels at their lowest since WWII, it is clear that we need a strategy to boost the supply across the country. Also welcome are the proposals that:
(i) council house sales will be restarted through a new tenant "right to buy" but with a new council house to be built to replace each one sold; and
(ii) additional funding will be allocated to converting empty homes for occupation.
We welcome your views on the proposals and on housing issues in Leyton and Wanstead in general.
Christmas cheer comes to Leytonstone town centre this week.
The Council proposes to "brand" the bridge at Leytonstone High Road station.
Thank you for your support at the last election. Because of you, David Cameron is the first Conservative Prime Minister in 13 years and the Government’s plans to build a strong economy and a big society are in full swing. Now, to help us communicate with you, we've launched this new local website.
