Conservative Team Hits Campaign Trail

Local Conservatives in Leyton and Wanstead are "Election Ready" declared Parliamentary candidate Ed Northover.

Ed Northover met with Redbridge Conservative Councillors to finalise details for the forthcoming campaign.  "With May 6th all but certain as the election date" said Ed, "it is vital we get our message across and keep Redbridge Conservative and elect a new Conservative Government "

At the weekend meeting Ed welcomed many new volunteers to the campaign.  "There is disillusion with the national Labour Government" said Ed "and dismay at the performance of the Waltham Forest Liberal - Labour coalition".

Ed was especially scathing of the views of Waltham Forest Labour Cllr Akram who claimed that one shooting incident on Cathall Estate every 8 weeks was "acceptable".  "Labour are out of touch and should be out of office " declared Ed.

Rallying local volunteers ed said: "Recent polls confirm that the Labour vote has collapsed in Leyton and Wanstead.  Local Conservatives polled more votes than any other party in the 2008 elections and we are best positioned to defeat Labour in 2010.

"Support our Troops" says Ed Northover

Attack on Soldiers Compensation "Shameful" says Ed Northover.

Ed Northover, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Leyton and Wanstead, has roundly condemned the Government's shameful  attack on injured serviceman's compensation.

"Firstly the Government palpably failed to supply enough basic equipment and ammunition. Then they failed to provide the helicopters. Now they're trying to clawback payments to the injured. What sort of message does this send? The situation in Afghanistan is now more dangerous than ever for our troops. Brave young men and women are put at increased risk everyday. And to save cash the MoD attemptto take money away from those whose injuries are arguably directly connected to those increased risks" said Ed.   "It is clear that the covenant between this country and those who defend her is being broken by this Government. We urgently need to review the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme to ensure that the consequences of injuries - not just the injuries themselves - are adequately dealt with."

By Election Win!

The appalling Budget helped push Labour into third place in the Wanstead By Election, won at a canter by local resident Alex Wilson.  The lack of a cohesive response - or policy - from the Lib Dems has seen them slip in the polls today (Apr 27th)  to a new low.

The European elections are the next opportunity to send a message to the Government -  resign, and resign soon!
